We’re working on adding a Bootplate Content Delivery Network (CDN) option which would load all sorts of common or heavy-weight resources from a public CDN hosted with MaxCDN. We’re a little unsure on the costs associated, but the idea and the technology seem sound.
Basically, we’d default all resources to load from their local versions. If the site admin checks the “Use Bootplate CDN” setting box in the Theme Customizer, it’ll load all Bootplate resources (JS, CSS, placeholder images, etc.) from the public CDN–which we’d probably have to pay for.
What are the possible costs associate with offering this CDN up publicly?
Could we find a sponsor? What would they be sponsoring, exactly? SHOULD we allow this to be sponsored?

Why not just create a performance settings control with options to use free CDNs and other tweaks. Costs nothing but a little time…
Love it. We’ll look into adding this into the v1.2 release.
V1.2 just released and you’ll find a lot of performance improvements in it.
This is still something we’re thinking about offering. Time (and usage) will tell.
How about offering a CDN as a premium (paid) feature? You could also look into letting someone sponsor the CDN. Just a thought.
