Let’s kick things off.

Bootplate is more than just a theme.  We like to think of it as a theme framework used for any WordPress website that uses Bootstrap v3 (or 4) as its responsive base.  That’s the vision, anyway.

If you’re planning on using Bootplate as just a simple theme starting place for your next WordPress web design, let’s get started.

There are a few basic steps that you’ll need to follow to install, setup, and customize Bootplate to your project.  The good news is this is pretty similar to how you would do it for any WordPress theme.

We cover some advanced ways of doing things in the Installation page, but just know that 95% of the setup is classic WordPress stuff.  If it ain’t broke…

Extending Bootplate

Once you’re all done, you may feel like Bootplate is a little TOO simple for you.  Well, that was the intent.  Bootplate was designed as a boilerplate (starting place) theme built with Bootstrap (“Boot-Plate”, get it?).  You’ll want to further customize it using Child Themes and extend its functionality using Plugins.

Have no fear. We provide loads of documentation and recommendations for that stuff too.
